my mom went to the sunday meeting and a missionary that was formerly in the congregation was showing (boring) slides about the "work" in africa.

when he showed some pictures of some witnesses, they were dressed in what he called "messianic attire".

he told the audience that it was no big deal that they were being allowed to continue this style of dress by the society since it was merely seen as "cultural".

Ahemm............! As to attire, the assumption would be that God is expecting Western (no, not cowboy) civ type clothing. Yet, from what we know from the Bible, He would seem to prefer folks in their birthday suits (pun intended) vis a vis Adam and Eve. (I think He gets a kick out of the naughty bits.)
OTOH, what we know from Hollywood is that He (God, not Cecil B. de Mille) is quite comfortable with robes and such. I think if it were a smiting matter, God would make it abundantly more clear what he wants us to wear. Therefore, on all matters where He is not abundantly clear, we can assume that it is a "matter of personal conscience."
Does anyone in their right mind think the the Almighty gives a fig what we wear?

Well, if you went around naked in public you might get arrested. So apparently some prefer that you do not walk around naked. In some places it is allowed, like on a beach or some other secluded area. The human body is work of divine creation it does not bring God shame.

If you wore a revealing dress to a place of worship it might cause a brother that is weak in the flesh anxiety. If a man that was married looked at you in a lustful sort of way, this would cause problems with his wife if she caught him looking at you. Proper dress in modesty is admonished sound in reason and in excercising a clean conscience before God. This should take the lead in deciding what to wear. Mr. E

People that celebrate them have no idea of the origin so they are not sinning. What is your point? Who is it I am judging?

Mr. E, obviously you have never been to a birthday party. You really need to research the issue and make an attempt to prove your statement biblically. There are many, many sites and threads about birthday's and how the jw's don't have a leg to stand on that issue. If you had ever been to a birthday party you would realize nobody gets thier head lopped off, no person or even the birthday person is worshiped, nobody sings magical incantations or any other such nonsense the wt puts out about it.
Col 2:16 -- 16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.

Yes I have been to a birthday party. People that celebrate them have no idea of the origin so they are not sinning. What is your point? Who is it I am judging? Inquirying minds want to know

Clothing attire is cultural in different lands. Celebrating birthdays is more in the line of traditions of men. Many people come together in love during the honoring of their childs birth. When you die it is a disheartening occurrance and many people mourn over. A righteous man is usually remembered for his righteous works and is honored at his death. It does not mean it is more important then your day of birth in respect to showing love to one another.

If you join together with your family for a birthday celebration, are you sinning if you are not celebrating the acts of magic practitioners? It is better to show love for your family while avoiding anything that might displease God. Honor the Father in the Heavens first in prayer, and then honor your children in love.

Why are the world's anointed not called to Brooklyn to be Governing Body?

when i was in the witnesses, and near the end of my time in.

there was the whole new understanding, of putting non-anointed people in positions in the organization that were normally something an anointed person would be in.

i remember them mentioning that the amount of anointed was dwindling and there needed to be people in these positions of responsibility, to make sure the work continues.. after this was highlighted and all good witnesses swallowed this thinking hook line and sinker.

What scriptures link the 144,000 out of the Tribe of Israel to those that go to heaven and also to them being anointed? Are all of the governing body members anointed?

this week's lesson talks about the whole idea that the book of job relates the central issue of the entire cosmos, a vital issue raised by satan, where satan questions whether humans follow god because of what they are given, or because he deserves it.

i'm surprised that the book of job, obviously archetypal and figurative (for example, i doubt people back then literally spoke for hours in hebrew verse, and i doubt that four messengers showed up all in a row with stories telling that they, only they, got away to tell of a disaster) even has a place in the canon; aside from its lack of any specific historical position or accuracy, the argument it advances (especially as the society interprets it) is facile: the idea that privileged, wealthy, powerful job somehow stands as a representative for all humanity and serves as a litmus test for man's interaction with god is downright silly.

I have spent time in the wicked world of mankind to be tested and acted as a Hypocryte, in order to know what my friends are like in their person. I hated with a passion, what they do in disrespect of The Almighty GOD, and in disrepect to all that is Holy. We all watched through my eyes, as I begged for JAH to bring this world to a close.

I have experienced the Most Violent and Wicked in Nature known as satan the devil in my body, heart, and soul. This is THE WAR OF ARMAGEDDON BEING WAGED IN THE HEAVENS AS WE SPEAK.......as a witness to know that it is occurring and taking place in like manner to the war in The Middle East, the birthplace of JESUS CHRIST, THE TRUE MESSIAH, AMEN UNTIL TIME INDEFINITE ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I was led to those chosen and revealed to the family of Christ that they were chosen also.

I was instructed to test their heart in this world by words put forth by JAH. So that those in the heavens can witness and also learn the Wisdom of The Almighty from the standpoint of a human. Seven out of those I was sent forth to experienced death of someone close to them.

I was instructed on how to councel them and also to provide them with gifts of love, and minimal monitary assistance according to my resources. I revealed to them that they were gifts from GOD. This is the True meaning of beating his fellow slaves, as a witness to what satan placed before them. Jehovah will reward them according to their worthiness. AMEN.......

I spent time in places that I avoided as a Christian due to restrainment from my bible based conscious. I was tested to see if I could be drawn back into the evil world of mankind. I also witnessed the degradation of human society caused by comsumption of alcohol. I see my friends drink and act uncaringly. They suffer in health and in spiritual breakdown. Many have broken hearts from all they do to each other while intoxicated.

This is the meaning of eating and drinking with the confirmed drunkards. The faithful slave can in no way be led back into the wicked world of mankind built up by satan and his demons.

I know good, I had to experience wickedness in order to build my strength in emotion, so that I may know what people have experienced. This so that I could provided counceling to the lowly ones of JAH.

To this day the final fulfillment of Jesus Christ arriving so that all might see him has been withheld from me. From the very first time in the beginning I was told, today is the day but it never came to pass. Perhaps tomorrow I was told, than the meaning was revealed to me. Always provide a basis for your belief. Look at the headlines please, in order to know the time and season we are in. This is the True meaning of "my Master is Delaying".......

However I was with The Alimghty, and knew all would come to pass as it was written. Therefore it was never in my heart. I recieved punishment only to the extent neccessary to accomplish a modern day sacrifice in like manner to my Master Jesus Christ, AMEN.......
